Movements in sleep

(Sleep-related movement disorders)

When I am resting in the evening I have the urge to move my legs or arms.

When I move around it goes away, When I stop movement it comes back.

I am very fidgety and I might run or cycle or make tapping movements in my sleep.

How I can help

You may need a full night's home sleep assessment (involving monitoring your brain waves in sleep), or blood iron level tests.

Review and confirmation of diagnosis with discussion of options for treatments such as iron or gabapentin or pregabalin.

Clinical review of symptoms and background; basic examination, explanation of findings.
